„Science Day“ is an educational initiative supported by the regional government to get 16-19 year old students into natural sciences and technology.

ACMIT took part and presented its research at the secondary school Bundesgymnasium Zehnergasse in Wiener Neustadt. „It is a great opportunity for young people to get insight into regional research companies and to motivate them for a career in science and technology“, appreciates ACMIT CEO Nikolaus Dellantoni the initiative.

The entertaining and informative program included workshops, lectures and the exhibition „Science to seize and to grasp“. As part of the exhibition ACMIT showed how robotically assisted spinal fusion surgery works. The boys and girls tried to steer the surgical robot (iSys Medizintechnik GmbH, MedCom GmbH) with a joystick thereby directing a surgical needle by themselves. Robotics for minimally invasive surgery is one of the most spectacular ACMIT research fields.

„Science Day“ is sustainably designed as a „road show“ regularly visiting schools and educational institutions in Lower Austria.
