ACMIT presented R&D Highlights at International Conferences 04.12.2014
ACMIT has had the opportunity to present results from R&D activities at several national and international conferences taking place this autumn.
New trends in the area of computer- and robot-assisted surgery were discussed at CRAS’2014 in Genoa/Italy by leading European institutes. In a keynote presentation, the ACMIT Research Director Dr. Gernot Kronreif gave an overview of robot systems for image-guided needle-based procedures and of related work at ACMIT in particular. Conference proceedings are available at http://www.cras2014.eu/.
At TECHNA’2014 (Toronto/Canada), selected research institutes and companies from Northern America met in order to highlight new innovations in healthcare robotics. As an invited panelist, Dr. Kronreif outlined the use of sensor systems in medical robotics. The symposium was supported by ACMIT – with presenters from Queens University and from the new ACMIT partner “University Health Network” (UHN), there was additional relevance to ACMIT. The symposium agenda and all speeches are available at http://symposium.technainstitute.com/speeches.php. ACMIT presentations have also been given at the DMD-Europe 2014 (Delft/NL; http://designofmedicaldevices.eu/) and at the “Forum Medizintechnik 2014” in Linz/Austria.
