Sensors

Introduction to Research Area 3

Minimally invasive surgical techniques ask for improved monitoring technologies to close the "information gap" between the surgeon and the human organs or tissues, he or she is working on.

Research Area 3 will close this gap by focusing on sensors and sensor systems for

  • diagnostic/classification support for tissue types in the operating theater,
  • improved control of instruments.

Contact person: For any question about the work in ACMIT Research Area 3 please contact the responsible area manager, Dipl.-Ing. Dr. techn. Christian Krutzler.

ACMIT Competence

Based on the sensor development expertise of Integrated Microsystems Austria GmbH, ACMIT Research Area 3 has a network of international scientific and company partners, experts in sensor design and development as well as in manufacturing.
We are able to design and build sensors and to test them under laboratory conditions as well as to develop them up to a prototype stage. Technologies we utilize span from mechanical machining to chemical etching.

The technical and scientific expert pool covers, among others, the following disciplines:

  • Technical Physics
  • Chemistry
  • Microsystems Technology
  • Simulation
  • Electronics
